Nigeria’s top 20 Oil companies have a combined produce of 865,000 Barrels per Day (bpd) according to a report by Africa Oil & Gas. Announced during an ongoing Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) 2014 meeting in Lagos, the report showed that as at May 2014, the companies made the achievement through individual and equity production.

National Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) topped the list with gross production of 186,918 bpd from its 10 oil fields.
Seplat is the largest private field operator in the list at the moment, with 60,113 bpd from three fields – Ovhor, Sapele and Oben. Midwestern produces 12,654 bpd from its Umusadege field. Conoil is producing 10,100 bpd from Otuo South field, and Pan Ocean 7500bpd from Ogharefe field.

Some other producers listed included Moni Pulo at 4000bpd, Walter Smith at 3800bpd and Niger Delta at 3800bpd. Energia was producing 3500 barrels per day while Pillar Oil was producing 2500 bpd. Other companies listed in the report included Amni Petroleum at 18000 bpd, Platform – 2000 bpd, Shebah – 1500 bpd and Allied Energy with 2000bpd. Shoreline Resources – 41,201bpd, Dubri – 200 bpd and Prime Energy – 1500 bpd were also listed in the report, among other indigenous oil and gas companies in Nigeria.

The country has a production capacity of 2.3 million barrels of oil per day.
