The Ministry of Petroleum Egypt has announced plans to construct a bio-ethanol plant in UAE that will process 100, 000 tons of molasses annually. The construction project, which is valued at USD 250 million, is set to start in the first quarter of 2015 and to come to an end in the fourth quarter of the same year.

Construction of this molasses plant will involve setting up a processing unit. Machinery will also need to be installed. Warehouses and other related infrastructure are also lined up for construction.
Egypt has also proposed to set up other two petrochemical projects in the area. All these projects are expected to take up a total of USD 540million.

One of the other two bio-ethanol projects to be launched by Egypt will involve production of bio-ethanol from rice straw. It will also process 100, 000 tones of the straw each year according to reports.

The third petrochemical project involves boosting PVC production and Egypt is targeting 40, 000 tones production capacity.
