Seismic survey at Moshi Basin within the Pangani oil exploration license, Tanzania has begun Monday this week. The survey will see the joint venture partners, Swala Oil and Gas and Swala acquire about 124 miles (200 kilometres) of 2D seismic data over the basin in the next four week. This data will be processed while the survey continues.

The survey will be done after discovery of 9,842 feet (3,000 metres) in thickness of sediments in the basin during 2013 investigation. After the seismic operations at the basin are completed, further seismic 267 miles (430 kilometres) of 2D data will be sought at Kilombero basin.

These seismic explorations are meant to advance the plans for 2015 drilling campaign by Swala Energy under Production Sharing Agreements with the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).
