Ways of increasing investment mainly in public and residential buildings such as medical facilities and schools will be top of the discussion in the 109th Annual Congress of Master Builders South Africa (MBSA), set to take place in Port Elizabeth starting September 21 to 23.

The Executive Director of MBSA Tumi Dlamini noted that the building industry is of importance to the nation, given that it helps create jobs. This is because it is not reliant on skilled workers, and that 74 percent of workers in this sector are semi-skilled or unskilled.

Dlamini also pointed out that an increase in activities in the construction sector, which leads to employment of various people, can have a substantial impact in the economy of the country.

One of the speakers in the 109th Annual Congress of Master Builders South Africa will be Professor Roger Flanagan from the University of Reading. He will basically be addressing the congress on some of the insights that can be put in place to allow future development in the construction sector.

This will help add an international perspective in the growth of the building industry in the country, and individuals will be able to learn how to achieve economic growth through the construction sector.

Professor John Smallwood from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University will, at the 2014 Master Builders South Africa, talk about accident prevention at the construction site, while Dr. Azar Jammine, an economist, will highlight some of the challenges facing South Africa’s Economic sector.
