The Ice Bucket challenge, one of the biggest acts online and in social media began slowly with just over 100 tweets on 15 July. It has now reached South Africa and in just a few weeks, has become a major fundraiser for patients and organisations with a neurodegenerative disorder, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) known as Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in South Africa.

Johnson Tiles was challenged by tile retailer Tiletoria and it passed on the challenge to Kirk Marketing and Malls Tiles.

Norcros SA Managing Director Thomas Willcocks and Johnson Tiles National Sales Manager Dewald Viljoen took up the Ice Bucket challenge on the 3rd of September at Johnson Tiles’ head office in Midrand. Also present during the challenge were Charl Viljoen – Johnson Tiles General Manager and Susan Snyman,  Johnson Tiles Sales Representative.

In addition to taking up the challenge, Johnson Tiles also donated 20 000 rands to support people with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
