Every day we are in constant contact with materials that combust (burn) — wood, paper, plastic, fabrics and even metals. When these materials burn out of control, we, our families and coworkers are at significant risk. Flames and smoke are killers.

Over the years, federal, state and local authorities have developed and enforced codes to reduce the fire hazards of materials and their structures. Laboratories worldwide are continually fire testing materials and structures to make sure they meet these fire codes.

Research has shown that the burning characteristics of materials and structures can be significantly reduced through the application of certain chemical systems called flame retardants. It is possible through the use of flame retardants to meet fire safety codes without having to replace an existing material with a non-combustible material which might be economically unfeasible.

As a flame retardant industry leader for over two decades, PyroTech manufactures and distributes flame retardant chemicals and coatings in the United States and throughout the world.

The company’s principal product areas include intumescent industrial coatings, flame retardant additives, saturants, and treatments.

PyroTech have existing, on the shelf, flame retardants for many substrates which have been successfully tested to standard tests such as ASTM-E84, UL 701, MVSS 302, TAPPI 461—many U.S. Military, NFPA, FAA and UL standards.

Flame retardants are directly related to a specific substrate and specific flame retardant standard. In some situations a standard flame retardant coating or saturant will need adjustment to be effective and efficient.

As the manufacturer, the company does this on a regular basis. In addition, it tests the flame retarded substrate to the required standard to achieve the most effective and efficient level of application.

PyroTech is a significant suppliers of flame retardants into a wide variety of applications including paper, textiles, upholstery, synthetic felts, foam air filters, automotive, aircraft, plastics, wood, building materials, exhibit/trade show booths and flame retardant packaging.

In addition, the company assists customers with engineering the optimal application method which is essential to the flame retardant process.
