Landmark Real Estate has announced a new investment at the junction between Rhokana Street and the Tonk Meter Drive in KwaThema.

The planned development is a mall that will offer shopping facilities to the region and spur regional economies according to the Executive Director of Landmark Real Estate Lionel Kisten.

The Junction@Kwathema development will finally involve setting facilities on a nine hectare piece of land, with development of the first phase to involve developing of 16,000m² piece of land. The total area to be developed will be about 30,000m² in size. Planned Phase 1 of Junction@Kwathema development will kick off in the first quarter of 2015. The first phase is slated for opening in 2016 September.

The new mall has been designed by Richard Venter from VH+S, an architectural firm. The new development falls within Ekurhuleni Metro Spatial Development Framework as a new, major growth node according to reports.

South Africa has witnessed a number of shopping malls being constructed, such as the new Ballito Junction mall, which was set to start later this year and be complete in March 2017 and the Cape Gate Shopping Mall in Cape Town.
