Hempel has opened its first factory in South Africa, adding to the list of 25 other of its factories around the world. The new facility will be utilized in manufacture of coatings for marine and protective and decorative industries, and will serve countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In addition to this, the company has also acquired The Coatings Manufacturing Company (TCMC) to help boost its presence in Africa.

According to the Executive Vice President of Hempel Kim Junge Andersen, the new factory will help reduce lead times, modernize supply chain and increase the company’s capacity to serve markets in the region. This will in turn offer a complete assortment to customers.

In addition to this new coatings factory, others that were opened in the recent past include Hempel’s first 100 percent water-borne coating factory in Saudi Arabia, a state-of-art factory in India, and a production facility in Netherlands which is part of Schaepman a Dutch supplier.

All these facilities will also help strengthen the company’s product portfolio, customer service and manufacturing capability.
