Rustic Homes, a Grabouw-based timber homes company recently launched its modular design luxury housing solution into the National market in South Arica.
The Eco Cabin uses locally made materials and was in use in the Western Cape.
Rustic Homes makes the cabin at its factory in Elgin, 70km south of the Eastern Cape.
According to the Managing Director of Rustic Homes Pieter Silberbauer, the units are simple to set up and they can use renewable energy solution for setting up: they can use solar and gas power.
Eco cabins come with a rain queen corrugated tank with a storage capacity of up to 1000l of water.
The cabin has a 32m2 footprint which is not inclusive of the outhouse and deck. Space is not wasted and less material is used for construction for a compact living.
The Eco cabin allows room for different finishing’s such as board or oak floors, aluminum clad internal linings, epoxy coated aluminum windows for easy maintenance and durability with a zinc roof. The cabin is available in different levels of finishing, such as floors made from orientated- strand board or oak.
