Centum is funding construction of Two Rivers, a real estate development that will span 100 acres space in Runda/Gigiri area, Nairobi-Kenya. Construction is already underway.

When completed, Two Rivers will have an area of 830,000 SQM. The 62,000-square-meter shopping mall – the largest in Sub-Saharan Africa outside of South Africa is expected to open in October this year

Based on the “city within a city” design concept, the mixed-use type real estate development will feature facilities such as modern office parks, residential apartments and hotels and public amenities. The new real estate development will also feature sustainability concepts. .

Two Rivers will be constructed in phases, with Phase 1 already underway. This phase will involve construction of 62,000 sqm of letting space, 3 Star and 5 star hotels and luxury residential apartments among other facilities. It will also involve development of state of the art infrastructure and open green spaces. Construction of play parks, and water sports facilities will also be part of the project. The five star hotel will have 200+ rooms while the 3-star will have 160+ rooms.

Located at the Gigiri/Limuru Road and 20km drive from Nairobi Central Business District  and only 30 minutes drive from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and providing easy access to Westlands, Lavington, Loresho, the new real estate development will be served by sufficient internal road networks such as paved roads and walking tracks; sub surface cable ducts to be constructed for power supply; as well as power backup.

The upcoming Two Rivers Lifestyle Center is already attracting global retailers, including Majid Al Futtaim Retail –Carrefour – the second largest retailer in the world – who signed an agreement on October 2014 with Two Rivers – for the initiative. Athena Properties Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Centum is managing the development.

Kenya is also witnessing construction at other mixed real estate development such as the Garden City, Nairobi, whose Phase 1 will cost US$250m. 33,000sqm of retail space will be developed, alongside 76 residential units. Also planned is a three acre central park. The Garden City mall alone will occupy 50,000 sq. metres.
