Ghana’s power deficit which has been experienced for the last one week is expected to end as the country’s main power producing plant Asogli resumes its operations.
According to the Asgoli’s Managing director Kweku Lee said they will resume their operations today and the situation is expected to be normal in few days after the actualize resume.
The Sunon Asogli Power Plant which fully depends on gas supplies from Nigeria produces over 180 Megawatts and for almost a week now it has been shut due to the ongoing workers strike at Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.
“We know we inconvenienced very many industries in the country but as soon as the strike will be over we will be able to supply the power as we used to” said Kweku

Ghana’s national grid experienced a loss of about 180 megawatts due to the situation and this was brought by an instant reduction in the gas supplied to the Asogli plant by 123million cubic feet by the leading west Adican power company and directly affecting the consumers.
The hitch was brought up after the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation workers stopped working since Friday over the policy break by the Company and they were against the move of transferring the operations from the current OML Shell to Neconde Energy.
