As part of tremendous makeover of Turffontein located in the Southeast of Johannesburg, the City is set to spend more US $12.04m over the next four years for the redevelopment of Rotunda Park sector.

This project on one of the oldest suburbs in Johannesburg will form part of Johannesburg city Freedom transit orientated development.
The Turffontein corridor caters for nearby periphery and it includes regions such as Kenilworth and Rosettenville. At the moment US $0.16bn has been approved for the construction mixed use hoses in the South Hills area.

According to Councillor Roslyn Greeff, member of the Mayoral Committee for Development Planning, works on the Rotunda Park Precinct will take place in three phases. The first phase of the project is already underway and is expected to be complete by November.

Construction work on phase 1 will include the upgrade of the High Street North, Northern Gateway and the Eastern Gateway.
Phase 2 which will be worked on later in the year will see to it that the 2km road stretch along De Villiers will be split so that the park is established to create a green public open space.

Phase 3 of the project will be worked on in the 2017-2018 financial year and will entail the expansion of De Villiers Parkway towards iconic landmarks.

According to Greeff, the Rotunda Park project will attract more investors in the housing sector. The Private sector was also welcomed to develop affordable housing to accommodate more people.
