Anoj Singh, the CFO of Transnet is set to join Eskom on 1 August as the acting CFO for the power utility after Transnet and Eskom Board of Directors agreed on the same for a duration of six months.

This appointment comes in after Transnet CEO Brian Molefe was also appointed by Eskom as the acting CEO in April with his contract being extended for another 3 months.

Eskom had initially suspended some of its management members in order to check into the state of the troubled power firm.

Singh will be responsible for all aspects of finance strategy for the firm. This will include a US $20.17bn funding plan and attendance of all Eskom Board and Executive Committee meetings.

His duty will be to see the company’s financial function transformed, aligning it with the key strategic priorities of the generation, funding and build programme while at the same time enhancing the company’s approach to tariff application.

Singh worked as the CFO for Transnet for six years. He led the company’s treasury operations. Under his leadership, the company got access to funding from investors in Canada, USA, China, Germany and other countries.

During his tenure at Transnet, the company launched a 7 year infrastructure programme which stood at US $27.11bn. This included attainment of 1064 locomotives.
As an accountant, Singh has a lot of experience in financial strategy development and execution, capital projects assurance, treasury, corporate finance, investor relations, tax and funding for regulated businesses.

Upon appointment of Singh, Garry Pita, the Group Chief Supply Chain Officer for Transnet was appointed as the acting CFO for the company.
Pita has worked for Transnet for over ten years previously holding senior positions at KPMG.
