Turkey power ship is expected to doc in Ghana by October. According to the Karpower engineers, the construction work on the Karpower Barge powership is almost complete and soon the 225MW power ship from Turkey will begin its journey to the Western Africa waters in Ghana.
However, upon its arrival, Turkey Power Ship is expected to be connected to the national grid within the first week of November this year. Moreover, the power vessel is also expected to contribute towards the long term power challenges in the country which forced the nation to settle on load-shedding programme.
The power situation in Ghana has led to severe repercussions which have resulted to major layoff and closure of several firms in the country. Furthermore, the Ministry of power’s projection toward the country’s power situation at hand has been influenced by the soon coming additional power savior, raising the nation’s hopes of soon burying the power challenges as the government together with the power ministry optimistic that the power situation will eventually stabilize, hopefully by the end of this year.
Karpower, the Turkey based company, signed an agreement with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) back in 2014 to deliver about 450MW of power to meet the country’s power demands. The is expected to last for solid 10 years with a 22% power supply to the national grid to meet the country’s power generation need.
