Habibu Engineering Company in Nigeria is partnering with Kebbi state ministry to construct emergency waterways especially in the areas heavily affected by floods, governor Atiku Bagudu has announced.
The construction of the emergency waterways by Habibu Engineering company in Nigeria is aimed at easing the free passage of water as well as releasing water from external water sources brought about by the heavy rains.
According to Governor Bagudu, his administration is optimistic that the flooding problem will get a solution as the community has persevered countless hardships due to the menace.
So far 7 local councils within the Kebbi State are greatly affected by the floods which are Bagudo, Augie, Argungu, Suru, Birnin Kebbi, Dandi and Bunza.
The Director of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Chindo Jega says that the floods mostly affects residential houses and crops particularly the Makera District in Birnin, Kebbi local council and some of the villages in Argungu area, however, the agency has already concluded its report on the level of damage and submitted it to the state government.
According to the SEMA Director, Mr. Jega, the state government is fully committed to the predicament faced by the flood victims as efforts have already been made in response to the flooding treat facing the Kebbi State citizens.
