The biggest stadium in Ghana is set to be constructed after Tema Metropolitan Assembly in collaboration with Transatlantic BDR concluded an agreement to construct a 60,000 capacity stadium in the country.
The multi-billion-dollar complex will be constructed along Tema’s coastline. The ground-breaking project is an overall regional economic development plan designed to grow international tourism
Beside the project being a 60,000 capacity stadium, the facility will also involve construction of residential mixed-use accommodations targeting cross-border corporations and regional companies as well as retail commercial.
The historic project partnership has the full support of the national and local government officials. “I wish to express our support,” said Honorable Rashid Pelpuo, Ghana’s minister of State. “For this landmark development that will forever change Ghana and be a showcase for the future development on the continent of Africa,” he added.
On completion, the project is expected to promote a livable smart city that will offers an opportunity to live, work, and leisure in the City within the Center of the World. The project will also provide the required interface for the country’s Port and Industrial City.
The project partnership with the US based firm marks an aggressive outlook anticipated by the part of the nation’s officials to establish the country as an international destination. According to TBDR CEO, Uduak Udofia, the firm is cultivating a diverse partner and investor base for optimal success to transform the region hosting the facility so that it will not only be a leisure city but attract global qualified investors and entrepreneurs to participate in the regions’ fast-paced economic growth
The life changing and national transforming project will involve hotels, convention center and a FIFA compliant soccer stadium will enable Ghana to host major international events therefore elevating the country to a first-tier market. Energy distribution is key and leveraging the latest in technologies via strategic partnerships with emerging technology companies in phasing out of legacy systems is essential
Infrastructure investments will include renewable energy; a light rail system expansion; new roadways and a 6G wireless communication network.
