The second day of the African Construction and Totally Concrete Expo, has witnessed industry leaders, experts, students and other stakeholder in the built and construction industry – gather at the Gallagher Convention Centre, in Midrand, Johannesburg.

In the focus was the co-located Civilution event that mainly dwelled on water security – a burning issue as many parts of South Africa have encountered drought for a long period, which has highly compromised water security.

Civilution is one of the eight co-located events that are sponsored by JG Afrika ,GladAfrica Group, Roadlab and Sanlam and is a forum for conversation  and discussion between engineers with an aim of bringing about diversity, transformation, evolution and  leadership in the global and local societies so  to improve the quality of life for all citizens.

Owing to the current drought season that South Africa is currently undergoing, Professional and Chartered Engineer, Mike Muller made a presentation on Water Security in Southern Africa. He says there is need to conserve water resources that are key suppliers of water.  He added that the Sterkfoitein Dam, the third largest in South Africa is strategic supplier of water in the Gauteng province.

With over 180 exhibitors all occupying an area of six thousand net square meters, the African Construction and Totally Concrete Expo, offers the delegates with an option of roaming between eight different co-located events under one roof. The Expo, which is now in its fourth year since its inception, has launched an exciting new outdoor expo.

The outdoor expo is an exciting area of interactive with sessions which include exposure to heavy machinery and equipment, live demonstrations, access to experiences such as bricklaying competitions, the AfriSam beer garden and drilling visitor challenges.

The third and final day of the African Construction and Totally Concrete Expo will see the announcement of the Women in Construction Awards winners, an event that will be hosted by the City of Jo’burg. In addition, expo visitors can attend Construction IT soft lounge and visit both the indoor and outdoor expos.
