According to the government officials the main contractor BAM International Company has received over 22 billion Tanzanian currency so that they can be able to finish up the project which temporarily stalled.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Planning Doto James said that his ministry have already conducted an assessment for the project before they released funds.

He defended the government and said that they were investigating recent delay that was caused by the Secretary of the Planning Commission, Treasury, Frolence Mwanri who was suspended by President Magufuli.

“The construction of terminal three at Julius Nyerere Airport will continue as planned as we have now released funds and we apologize for the delay and we believe the contractor will be able to deliver it on time” he added.

The official added that they had made the approval for the payment of the Third phase of (JNIA) Terminal III construction.

However the project have been hitting news headlines after Ms Mwanri was suspended by Dr Magufuli made after making an impromptu tour of the construction site and ordered the relevant state organs to investigate the project.

The president added that he will ensure all the authorities involved in the project delivers it on time just like the first phase of the project was delivered.
Magufuli however raised eyebrows on the amount of money that was spent in the construction of Phase two of the project saying that the funds were too high.

He directed the Minister for Works, Transport and Communications Prof Makame Mbarawa to form a team of local engineers who are well versed with the government focus, saying he wanted a big percentage of money paid out to the project to remain in the country.

The next day Minister Mbarawa formed a new supervision team of local engineers to oversee the multibillion project.
