Several solar plants in Nigeria will be installed in Kebbi State will aside from making certain that there is stable power supply will decrease unemployment and warrant development, Governor, Atiku Bagudu has assured.

Governor, Atiku Bagudu who spoke yesterday in Sokoto while launching the 2nd Africa International Renewable Energy Conference (Solar Africa) at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, he was adamant that, the country has a lot of energy challenges.
The Governor says it is a high time the state to endeavor towards realizing energy dependence, maintaining that resources should be made available for research institutions that will aid in that direction.
The governor decried the attitude of Nigerians in defending of import of renewable energy tools manufactured and subsidized from other nations rather than endeavoring to develop and improve our local engineers to manufacture same.
Bagudu bewailed that such reliance mentality disheartens local manufacturers.
“Lots of advancement has been witnessed in renewable energy around the world. But we just grasped that, the more we depend on importation, the more it becomes hard for us to develop our local technology.
“Our research effort should represent within it a strategy which will bring out stakeholders’ position for those in leadership position at whatever level to supply funds for research which might not be lucrative at the moment but will be of immense profit with time”.
Collaborating Governor, Atiku Bagudu’s developmental effort, particularly as established by converting Kebbi into a top rice cultivation state in the Nigeria, the director general, Energy Commission of Nigeria, (ECN) Prof. Eli Bala said the nation’s master plan for solar energy actually started in Kebbi state.
Bala who was represented by the director renewable energy, Prof. Dioha Joseph guaranteed that each state in Nigeria has plentiful renewable energy.
“The master plan for solar energy in the nation took its root from Kebbi state. The first energy village in Nigeria was in Kebbi state,” he said.
