The South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) links leading women in the energy sector with University students and young professionals.
This aims to support development, especially in addressing matters of gender and change in the Wind sector.

The energy sector
The programme aims to connect top women in the energy sector,Senior students at South African Universities and young professionals
WindAc Africa Educating Programme will help the professional and youth, who are interested to understand careers in the energy sector.
The Mentoring will address issues of gender and change in the Wind sector. The training will bring together both female and male students, but only female students will be mentors.
The programme will focus on steps to specifically bring up the future energy leaders within the Wind sector.

SAWEA CEO, Brenda Martin said; “Transformation of the four-year old SA renewable sector needs specific programmes focused on actively addressing the value chain within the renewable power. The plan aims to contribute to the work of changing the leadership of the Industry over time. It is part of SAWEA’s commitment to actively working to drive the transformation list within the renewable industry.”
Mentoring wind energy programme structure
The mentoring programme structure includes matching mentors with mentees, establishing mutual commitments of time, and ongoing advisory and guidance.
Mentors and mentees will be announced at the WindAc conference taking place on November 14th and 15th in Cape Town.
