The government of Zambia has signed a US $127k deal with Zambia National Service to construct Down UB market in Mansa, Luapula Province.
Speaking during the signing ceremony that took place in Lusaka, Amos Malupenga, Ministry of Local Government and Housing Permanent Secretary expressed happiness that the contract was concluded.
Amos added that the Ministry has been under pressure to complete the works and hoped that the service will speedily move on site to undertake the assignment.
“ZNS has long positioned the required personnel on standby to proceed with the works and is just waiting to receive the required funds.” said Zambia National Service Commandant Lieutenant General Nathan Mulenga. He also assured that the nation that ZNS will execute the project timely.

Down UB market project
The Down UB market project consists of of a market shelter and an ablution block, would commence before the end of November. A year ago, government terminated the contract awarded to Afri-Wood for the Down UB Market for failure to complete the works on time.
Mr Malupenga has also assured Zambia National Service -ZNS- that funds for the signed contracts for Livingstone Market and Intercity Bus Terminus would soon be secured from National Pensions and Scheme Authority (NAPSA) for ZNS to proceed with the works.
