Cape coast stadium is located in the Central Region, of Ghana. Construction of the stadium was completed in 2016.
The China IPPR International Engineering Corporation, under the direction of architect Zhou Jun, developed the design. The Cape coast stadium is used mostly for football matches with a capacity of 20,000 people and is the home stadium of Ebusua Dwarfs.
There are 300 parking spaces available at the stadium, two basketball courts, a handball court, a tennis court, and an indoor space that may be used for any indoor sporting events.

Chinese firm to deliver US$30m multi-purpose Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana
The construction work has resumed on the New Cape Coast Stadium project in Ghana. The project contract was awarded to the China Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation, a Chinese firm handling the project back in August 2013 at a cost of US$30m.
The Cape Coast Stadium will be constructed at the country’s colonial capital which is 144km West of Accra. The 15,000-capacity multi-purpose stadium will also include 22 guestrooms, 4 athletic lounges, 2 outdoor basketball courts, a boxing training court, a handball court, audience emergency rooms, 300 car parking capacity, and 8 runway tracks.
On the complex side of the Cape Coast Stadium, it will comprise of a canteen, kitchen, fire-fighting room, storage rooms, and a 22-room hostel facility. The stadium design proposal was done by architect Zhou Jun who heads the China IPPR International Engineering Corporation. Construction of New Edubiase Sports Stadium in Ghana to resume
Construction works are set to resume on the abandoned New Edubiase Sports Stadium after the government secured funding for the project.
The project which began in 2016 stalled due to financial. However, Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Isaac Asiamah affirmed the reports and said that the project would be redesigned by architectural experts within the next two weeks to ensure that it meets the required standards.

The minister pointed out that the project would be redesigned by architectural experts within the next two weeks to ensure that it meets the required standards. After inspecting the facility, he assured that the government will provide all the necessary resources to make sure the facility is turned into a multipurpose sports stadium in order to benefit residents of New Edubiase and promote talent as well as sports fitness.
“Investigations are ongoing on how payments were made in the past, but for now the project must continue. The National Youth Authority (NYA) will work on it with other agencies appointed,” explained the Minister.
In addition Member of Parliament for New Edubiase, Mr. George Boahen Oduro said that once complete the new facility will be put to good use in naturing sporting talents among young people.
On her side the Queen mother of New Edubiase, Nana Akua Owum II commended the government for resuming the project which began three years ago. She urged the government to speed up the work to enable youth to take part in sporting activities to keep them busy and also to ensure they shun away from social vices.
The New Edubiase Stadium will bring to six the number of standard government stadia in the country in addition to the Accra Sports Stadium, the Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium, the Sekondi-Essipong Sports Stadium, the Tamale Sports Stadium, and the newly-constructed Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Ghana begins renovation works on Cape Coast Sports Stadium
Renovation works on Cape Coast Sports Stadium in Ghana have begun. Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah confirmed this after his inspection visit at the site. The Cape Coast Stadium is Ghana’s first sports project of this scale since the country hosted its last Cup of Nations in 2008.
It was constructed in 2012 at a cost of US $33.35m. The Chinese government contributed roughly US $30m, while the Ghanaian counterparts submitted US $3.35m; after which the facility was officially handed over to the government in 2016. The stadium complex has a 22-room hostel facility, a canteen, kitchen, fire-fighting room, and storage rooms among others.
It also features a 300-car parking capacity, two basketball fields, a handball court and tennis court, and an indoor facility that can be used for any indoor games. The complex which was designed by the China IPPR International Engineering Corporation led by architect Zhou Ju is set to receive the face-lift following a three-year maintenance MOU signed between China and Ghana in September 2018 when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo visited the country.
Renovation works
The renovation works on the project include repairs of the scoreboard and floodlights, replacement of broken seats, repair, and replacement of gym equipment, an extension of the main stadium walls as well the construction of emergency routes from the stadium among others.
The maintenance agreement also includes a capacity training program whereby Ghanaians will be skilled in maintaining the edifice and the country’s other sporting infrastructures. Hon. Isaac Kwame noted that the government’s priority is to ensure all the sports facilities in the country receive periodic maintenance, adding that huge sums of funds cannot be invested in providing modern sports edifices only for them to be left to deteriorate.
