Texas Battery Energy Storage system development continues to accelerate as Bimergen awards a construction contract to TruGrid for a 40 MW / 80 MWh project in Texas valued at about $80 million.
The project strengthens grid reliability while supporting renewable integration across the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market, where demand continues to rise and storage assets remain critical for balancing intermittent energy supply.
Texas Battery Energy Storage System Contract Details
Bimergen Energy Corporation awarded the construction contract to TruGrid to deliver balance-of-plant and integration services for the project. Moreover, TruGrid will handle engineering, procurement support, installation, and commissioning to ensure seamless execution.
The 40 MW / 80 MWh system will operate as a standalone facility within Texas’ ERCOT grid. Additionally, the project aligns with Bimergen’s broader pipeline expansion strategy across distributed energy storage assets.
Texas Battery Energy Storage System Strengthens ERCOT Grid
The Texas Battery Energy Storage System will provide fast-response capacity during peak demand and grid instability periods. Consequently, the system will enhance frequency regulation, load balancing, and ancillary services in a volatile energy market.
Furthermore, battery storage supports renewable penetration by stabilizing fluctuations from solar and wind generation. Bimergen continues targeting ERCOT due to high load growth and increasing renewable energy deployment.
The project forms part of a wider portfolio of distributed battery storage systems across Texas. Earlier, Bimergen acquired multiple late-stage storage projects totaling 79.2 MW in the same region.
Therefore, this contract represents a continuation of that development pipeline toward commercial operation. Five related projects are expected online in late 2026, while others will follow in early 2027.
Technology and Execution Approach
TruGrid will deploy advanced lithium-based battery systems integrated with energy management platforms. In addition, the company will oversee interconnection and system optimization for efficient grid participation. The modular design allows rapid deployment, scalability, and reduced construction risk across distributed sites. As a result, the system will deliver reliable, dispatchable energy during critical demand windows.
Battery storage costs continue declining, improving project economics and investor confidence. Typically, utility-scale systems now range near $1,000 per kWh depending on configuration and duration. Therefore, the estimated $80 million cost aligns with current market benchmarks for similar capacity systems. Bimergen leverages financing structures and partnerships to accelerate deployment without heavy capital strain.
Construction is expected to begin in 2026 following final permitting and procurement activities. Subsequently, commissioning will align with broader portfolio timelines targeting late 2026 operations. The phased rollout ensures faster revenue generation and optimized integration into the ERCOT market.
Meanwhile, battery storage deployment continues expanding across Texas as developers scale grid-support infrastructure. Earlier, similar progress emerged in another utility-scale project, Solamax BESS Project in Texas to Deliver 430MWh of Grid-Scale Storage . This highlights sustained investment momentum in the ERCOT market and reinforcing the growing role of large-scale storage systems in stabilizing renewable energy supply.
