ACME Wins 220 MW Solar and Battery Storage Project at the Morena Solar Park in India

Home » Energy » Solar projects » ACME Wins 220 MW Solar and Battery Storage Project at the Morena Solar Park in India

ACME Solar Holdings has secured a 220 MW solar power project integrated with battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Morena Solar Park in Madhya Pradesh, following a tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL). The project forms part of India’s emerging push toward dispatchable renewable energy, where solar generation is paired with storage to ensure predictable supply during peak demand hours.

The award also strengthens ACME Solar’s position in the solar-plus-storage segment. This is an area being increasingly favored by state utilities and grid operators seeking reliability alongside decarbonization. The project is structured around long-term power procurement. This also reinforces ACME’s strategy of building a stable, contracted renewable portfolio while growing its experience in large-scale BESS integration.

Morena Solar Park’s 600 MW Solar Plus Storage Tender

The Morena Solar Park’s 600 MW solar-plus-storage tender, issuing Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) contracts, was split into multiple 220 MW blocks. Two of these blocks have been formally awarded at time of writing – one to ACME Solar Holdings Ltd. and one to Ceigall India Ltd. ACME won at ₹2.76/kWh while Ceigall won at ₹2.70/kWh. ACME is also among the four winners of India’s Tranche VII auction by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

Additionally, the Morena tender is part of a larger 600 MW procurement. This also means that additional awards and/or future tranches may be expected as RUMSL continues to allocate capacity.
