Amiblu has commissioned the extension of its glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) pipe production facility in Morocco, marking a key milestone in the company’s expansion across North Africa. The electrification works for the factory extension were delivered with support from Insta Globe, a global specialist in industrial electrification and instrumentation.
The factory has now been successfully commissioned, with initial production trials currently underway.
Morrocco has become a hub for industrial development by major international players not only Amiblu. One of these is Alstrom who plan to build a second railway factory in Morroco.
Expanding GRP Pipe Capacity for North African Infrastructure
The expanded Moroccan facility will manufacture GRP pipe systems for drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and irrigation infrastructure, serving growing demand across North African markets.
GRP pipes are widely adopted due to their lightweight structure, corrosion resistance, long service life, low hydraulic losses, and minimal maintenance requirements, making them a competitive alternative to steel, ductile iron, and concrete pipelines in many infrastructure applications.
“This extension supports Amiblu’s mission to improve access to safe water and sanitation, and to build resilient, long-life water networks globally,” said Omar Benyahia, Managing Director of Amitech Maroc, Amiblu’s Moroccan subsidiary.
Electrification Delivered Under Tight Production Requirements
Insta Globe played a central role in the electrification and instrumentation cabling and connections, working under the leadership of the Amiblu Technology team. The scope included cabling, containment, and connection works required to bring the production facility safely and reliably online.
“Both Amiblu Technology and Insta Globe teams were instrumental in the successful delivery of the project’s electrification activities,” Benyahia added. “Their professionalism, technical competence, and disciplined execution enabled us to launch operations on schedule and with confidence in the reliability of our pipe production systems.”
Supporting Critical Water Infrastructure Worldwide
Amiblu supplies GRP pipe systems for municipal, industrial, and regional infrastructure projects globally. Across Africa, the company has delivered multiple large-scale schemes, including extensive GRP drainage pipelines for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) infrastructure in Dakar, Senegal.
“This project demonstrates Insta Globe’s ability to deliver complex industrial electrification in manufacturing environments and bring production facilities online reliably and safely anywhere in the world,” said Ivo Pukk, CEO of Insta Globe Engineering.
Precision Coordination Key to Project Delivery
According to Konstantin Mikhailov, CTO of Insta Globe, the success of the project relied on close coordination between electrification and instrumentation teams.
“Delivering a production facility of a high technical and operational caliber requires precise coordination across electrification and instrumentation activities. Our teams worked in close coordination with Amiblu’s project organization and executed all works in line with international quality and safety standards,” Mikhailov said.
