The Arsenal-1 Manufacturing Facility Project is a proposed industrial development planned in Pickaway County near Columbus, Ohio. Anduril Industries has selected the site for the construction of a manufacturing facility with an estimated investment of approximately $1 billion. The project is planned for a 500-acre site located near Rickenbacker International Airport and is intended to support the company’s production of autonomous systems and related defense technologies.
Construction activities are expected to begin following the completion of required approvals, with production targeted to start in July 2026. The site was selected following a location review process that assessed infrastructure availability, workforce capacity, and proximity to existing aerospace and defense industry networks in the region.
State officials have indicated that the project is expected to contribute to local employment and industrial development within the area.
When Arsenal-1 is at full pace, several thousand autonomous systems and weapons will be churned out every year. It will have 5 million square feet of manufacturing space, while another 500 acres are available for further expansion. It’s designed to adapt and expand as defense needs change over time.
“Arsenal-1 marks a significant advancement in the design and production of autonomous systems and weapons essential for the security of our nation and allies,” said Anduril CEO Brian Schimpf. “By combining a world-class workforce with a scalable and software-driven approach, Arsenal-1 is setting a new benchmark for defense manufacturing.”
Other Projects
Other than the Arsenal-1 facility in Ohio, another manufacturing facility taking shape is the U.S.-Japan display factory.
Recent plans for a $13bn U.S.-Japan display factory have transpired with Japan Display expected to build the plant in the U.S. The project is part of the recently inked $550 billion investment package as noted by sources close to Reuters. The plan is aimed at strengthening U.S. display manufacturing. Moreover, this move comes as the U.S remains concerned with over reliance on China for display technologies used in military system.
On the other hand, it provides Japan companies with a new market as fierce price competition has pushed many out of market. Despite being linked to the project, Japan Display did not provide any comments.

The Economic Impact
Investment like this reinforces Ohio’s position as a leader in advanced technology and also in national security, said Lt. Governor Jon Husted. You can’t have ‘Made in America’ without having ‘Made in Ohio,’ he said.
But this is more than just a new factory; it’s part of building what’s known as the “arsenal of democracy,” carrying on Ohio’s proud tradition in aviation, aerospace, and defense. Once the final approvals come through, Arsenal-1 aims at strengthening America’s military capabilities with a modern, efficient facility ready to meet today’s global challenges.
