In the recent past, the pace of new transshipment port developments in Africa has increased with demand almost always exceeding supply. Now, countries such as South Africa, Morocco, Nigeria, Kenya, Djibouti, Namibia and Tanzania are embarking on plans to build transshipment facilities of their own. Some of these countries presented extensive capital investment plans at the Africa Ports and Harbours Show in Sandton, South Africa recently.

Tanzania’s National stadium Complex completed
Tanzanian sports fans are thrilled as China officially hands over Phase One of the National Stadium Complex in Dar es Salaam to the government after seven years of construction of the massive project.
Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Lu Youqing and Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Youth, Culture and Sports Sihaba Mkinga signed and exchanged handover certificates during a brief ceremony held at the venue recently.
Djibouti’s US$4.5 billion railway project launched
Ethiopia’s, Prime Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn and Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh have launched construction of the new Nagad Railway Station. Construction of the station, which will form part of the 800km Addis Ababa – Dewele – Djibouti route, was also inaugurated in the presence of Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Tedros Adhanom.
