Dubai has earned its place among cities with the tallest buildings in the world. In 2018, Dubai ranked fourth among cities with the most skyscrapers and had three of the five tallest buildings in the world. Below we have compiled a list of the top 10 tallest buildings in Dubai.
Burj Khalifa
Formerly known as Burj Dubai and located in Downtown Dubai, Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The building has held this crown since its completion in 2009. Standing 828-meter high, the building also held the title of the tallest building in the world between 2004 and 2009.
Burj Khalifa is not just the tallest building in the world but also the tallest free-standing structure in the world. With 163 floors, the building also has the highest number of floors than any building in the world. As if not enough, Burj Khalifa has the tallest service elevator in the world, hosts the world’s highest outdoor observation deck, and highest occupied floor in the world.
Marina 101 Tower
Standing 425 meters in the sky and located in the waterfront community of Dubai Marina, Marina 101 Tower claims the second spot among the tallest buildings in Dubai. The skyscraper was completed in 2016 and has 101 floors.
Marina 101 Tower boasts being one of the tallest residential buildings globally and was designed with various aesthetics features. Although it was launched in 2017, the building is yet to be fully completed after the developer ran short of money.
Princess Tower
In the third position is Princess Tower and also located in Dubai Marina. At some point, it was crowned the tallest residential building in the world. The skyscraper offers a scenic view of Dubai’s coastline as well as the Dubai Eye Ferris Wheel.
The building stands 413 meters high and has 101 floors with a façade that has several noticeable parts. Princess Tower has an observation deck on the 97th floor.
23 Marina
This is a 393-meter building with 89 floors. The residential tower is located between Dubai Marina and Dubai Media City. At this completion in 2012, the tower was the tallest all-residential building, a title later taken by Princess Tower.
The first six storeys of the building have an entry hall built with slanted glass walls and geometric designs on the flooring.
Elite Residence
Elite Residence is also located in Dubai Marina and was the third tallest residential building when it was completed in 2012. The skyscraper is 380 meters high and has a contemporary that features some elements of Victorian Architecture. The residential structure has 695 one to four-bedroom apartments.
The Address The BLVD
The Address The BLVD or The Address Boulevard stands 368 meters high with 72 storeys. It is located in Downtown Dubai next to Burj Khalifa. The building was completed in 2017 and has 530 serviced apartments. In addition, it has a hotel of 196 rooms that is operated by the Address Hotels and Resorts. The Address Boulevard offers a scenic view of the Dubai Fountain, Burj Khalifa, and the Arabian Gulf.
Almas Tower
The 363-meter Almas Tower is located in the waterfront community of the Jumeirah Lake Towers. The building is also called Diamond Tower due to its architecture that is inspired by the distinctive shape of diamonds.
Almas Tower has 68 storeys and is home to Dubai Diamond Exchange, which occupies a two-story podium. The podium has eight triangles that imitate a sliced diamond extending out from the core.
Gevora Hotel
The 75-storey Gevora Hotel was completed in 2017 and is located on Sheikh Zayed Road. Dubai’s eighth tallest skyscraper features 5 restaurants, 528 deluxe rooms and suites, leisure units and a health club.
JW Marriott Marquis Dubai
JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is the ninth tallest building in Dubai and is located in Business Bay on Sheikh Zayed Road. The 355-meter building has two towers of the same height. It has a 1,608-room, 5-star luxury hotel which is operated by Marriott International.
Completed in 2012, JW Marriott Marquis Dubai’s shape was inspired by the date tree, which is a very important symbol in the Arab culture. The building, which has 72 storeys offers a good view of alm0st the entire Dubai skyline.
Emirates Tower One
To close the list of the top 10 tallest buildings in Dubai is the Emirates Tower One, which stands 355 meters high and located Sheikh Zayed Road. It is largely used for office purposes. The building was completed in 2000 and has three large core walls that support the weight from the giant steel trusses attached to the core.
