Chinese firm Stecol Corporation has been awarded the contract for the dualling of the Sh38.7 billion Kiambu Road. This Kiambu Road Dualling project is aimed at reducing frequent traffic congestions. Also, other road projects ongoing in Kenya include the El Wak-Rhamu Road Project.
Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir witnessed today the signing of an Engineering Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the expansion of Muthaiga–Kiambu–Ndumberi Road with Chinese firm at the Transcom House in Nairobi.
Significance of the Project
“The 23.5 km project will be undertaken by Stecol Corporation. Furthermore, it is expected to significantly enhance mobility, ease congestion, and support economic growth along the corridor. Also, present in the signing of the EPC contract were the Director General of KURA, Eng. Silas Kinoti and officials from Stecol Corporation,” Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) posted on its X page.
Also, the two-lane B32 road will be converted into a four-lane dual carriageway with service lanes. It will have pedestrian walkways and six footbridges in high-traffic areas such as Ridgeways, Thindigua and Kiambu Town.
Funding of the Project
Furthermore, the project will be funded through a Sh38.7 billion loan from China’s EXIM Bank. It will be delivered under a 36-month EPC contract followed by a two-year defects liability period.

Additionally, the upgraded route will run from Pangani through Muthaiga, Ridgeways, Windsor and Runda to Ndumberi. Also, new bridges and overpasses will be constructed at sections including Muthaiga Golf Club Spur, Coffee Garden, Tala Road, Ridgeways and Kirigiti Junction.
