Excellence and efficiency have been the driving force behind A D Design Architects since its inception in 1997. Amidst challenges to break through the market, the founder of the firm, Arch. Arnold Deche, developed an individual, modern and unconventional approach to architectural designs. The practice now has grown from one architect to a staff of three architects, four technicians and support staff.
Located in Ganjoni area of Mombasa, A D Design got its big break in 2003 when it was commissioned to design Papweza Beach Suites in Bamburi. The hotel sits on a narrow beach plot with a unique coastal architectural design with all the rooms facing the sea. The practice is now known for designing luxurious beach apartments. Other major projects which followed were: Pangoni Beach Apartments, Eden Beach Apartments and Spa, Royal Beach Apartments, Shaza Beach Apartments and Spa, Milele luxurious Apartments and HillPark Tiwi Beach Resort. Pangoni was awarded the best Architectural design in Africa by AREHF Academy in 2012.
The practice believes that each project is an opportunity to explore new grounds and test new ideas in terms of space arrangements, façade designs, materials and technology. Each Architect is given the freedom to explore his creativity individually and then review as a team; this gives A D Design an opportunity to test various design approaches and styles. They believe that in architecture, there must be enjoyment so that there is pleasure for the client at the end of the day. “After completion of the project, we want a friend and not somebody who is disgruntled”.
Most of their clients have commissioned them more than one project. The relationship with the clients has seen the practice engaged in projects beyond their locale. They have projects in Nairobi, Kisumu, Malindi, Kwale and even Kampala. “We are looking forward to stretch our services to the East Africa region at large”, they say. The practice has been able to do several architectural and interior designs ranging from churches, private houses, estates, apartments, beach hotels, office buildings, shopping malls, schools, hospitals etc.
A D Design Architects are ambitious and determined to produce successful projects. It is the belief of the practice that their efficiency, good management, creativity and interpersonal skills take their architecture outside the standard framework.
