FloorworX originally formed when UK-based Marley established a subsidiary in Johannesburg in 1953, the company has evolved as FloorworX – part of Accéntuate Ltd – enjoying a prominent position in the South African market, supplying around 66 percent of the country’s requirements for flexible and semi-flexible flooring.
FloorworX has sales offices in Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Durban and Cape Town, and manufactures vinyl flooring at its 26,000m² factory in East London.
According to FloorworX’s marketing manager Theresa Venter currently their company manufactures and distributes their products to agents who install their flooring across Africa.
On current trends in the industry Theresa said advent of luxury vinyl planks. Luxury Vinyl is typically manufactured from virgin PVC, has a tough wear layer, and also has a more robust backing system than standard vinyl sheet goods. Soft and comfortable underfoot, luxury vinyl accurately represents real hardwood colours and textures for beauty in a vinyl product.
In addition, FloorworX imports a comprehensive range of top-quality flooring products from around the globe. They have international agreements with major resilient flooring companies and, in most cases they manufacture and export their product to them under their FloorworX brand name.
This includes rubber products imported from Germany, linoleum from Holland, safety flooring from Ireland, solid wood flooring from Sweden, sports flooring from Hungary, and more, including product from Swiss company Forbo, which exports to FloorworX under its own brand name. FloorworX is therefore a one-stop shop for hard flooring products.
To meet the requirement of the smaller, often more urgent projects, FloorworX keeps a stock of between 65 and 80 days of materials at its main warehouse in East London. In addition, they have invested heavily in their own training centre where they train fitters to lay the flooring correctly. By raising the skills level across the entire industry the company is able to maintain its reputation and improve service levels to the customer.
