Building Efficiency

Johnson Controls delivers products, services and solutions that increase energy efficiency and lower operating costs in buildings. They are a leading provider of equipment, building automation and services for heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, refrigeration and security systems.

·HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, Air-Conditioning)

Johnson Controls sells HVAC brands such as York and Luxaire directly to end users and contractors. They also offer services, support, maintenance and parts. Johnson Controls has a high level of expertise and technical competence in this sector. Their service focuses on the corporate and industrial market, ensuring clients’ investments delivers a low total cost of ownership.

·Building Automation Systems & Security

Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems offers building automation solutions that drive efficiencies and convenience within a building.  The company works through a distribution network comprising Optimal Control Systems, Cape Automation Systems, Atbro and Industrial Thermo Dynamics.

Johnson Controls Security offers an extensive range of solutions, from Workforce Management (P2000) and CCTV to intrusion systems.  It also offers solution design, project management and implementation.

·Contracting

Johnson Controls Contracting focuses on the food and beverage, mining, industrial and petrochemical sectors. They sell and install industrial equipment, such as Sabroe, Frick, Gram and Stal, offering turnkey solutions that include product, design, commissioning, implementation and project management. They are a market leader in the mining sector.

According to Neil Cameron, GM, Johnson Controls Building Efficiency in Africa, their products can be found in most countries in Africa. They partner with reputable, ethical solution providers and always ensure there is a strong technology and maintenance support base to service customers. In middle and Northern Africa, Johnson Controls is a major supplier of chillers to commercial buildings. They also supply cooling equipment to mines in Ghana, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Guinea, Tanzania and Botswana. In West and East Africa they have a strong presence at breweries and abattoirs, where they provide environmental control (chillers) to enable processing of heat sensitive products. They also supply cooling to the industrial sector, especially ammonia plants. In sub-Saharan and East Africa, Johnson Controls provides building automation and electronics. The company delivers residential cooling everywhere.

Cameron added that they are always looking for partners, especially companies that are dominant players in particular sectors with a strong reputation in HVAC. They have an extensive network of partners in Africa but it is a very dynamic market with high growth potential developing in new areas all the time. They look for integrity and a strong service ethic in their partners. They provide sales and technical training to their partners from four South African based locations.
