Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers (KVM) has stepped up the assembly of Hyundai light trucks for CICA Motors, the distributor for Kenya. To meet the demand for three and five tonne trucks.
The assembly of Hyundai light trucks by KVM commenced early in 2012 after an intensive training programme, followed by checks and tests by KVM quality controllers and trainers from Korea.
Technical audit teams from Hyundai Motor Company visit Kenya periodically to carry out detailed inspections of the locally built trucks.
This includes computerized wheel alignment and brake checks and extensive road tests.
Sarfraz Premji, the General Manager of CICA Motors, commented, “We are seeing rising demand from a wide range of truck users including bakeries, builders, manufacturing companies and transporters.
“Hyundai trucks carry a three year, or 100,000 kilometre warranty and we lay great emphasis on after sales service.
The Hyundai HD 65 and HD 72 trucks are highly rated by their owners for their reliability and ease of ownership with few breakdowns ever being recorded.
The HD 65 has a gross vehicle weight of 6500kgs and the HD 72 has a gross vehicle weight of 7,200kgs. Both these trucks have been popular with SMEs and also quite popular with auto recovery businesses.
