Saia-Burgess Controls, based in Murten, Switzerland, develops, manufactures, and sells PLCs, operator touch panels, and electrical energy meters globally, with a focus on the building and infrastructure automation market. It was owned by Johnson Electric, a Hongkong-based global leader in electrical motors, and was acquired by Honeywell in 2013 for $130 million.
Saia-Burgess Controls covers the PLC market with a range from small to large PLCs and operator panels. The Saia PCD1 and PCD2 are the company’s compact modular Micro to Small PLC product lines that cover I/O ranges from 17 to 1,024 and up to 13 communication interfaces.
The Saia PCD3 is Saia’s most successful modular PLC system. It combines traditional PLC quality with standard IT functionalities. The Saia PCD3 PLC system ranges from 32 – 1,024 IO points in a centralized architecture to over 10,000 IO points in a decentralized architecture. The company also offers versions programmable in Siemens SIMATIC Step 7. The Saia PCD3 PLC system can be equipped with up to 13 communication interfaces and includes now redundant TCP/IP communication.
Saia PCDs handle all standard communication protocols like TCP/IP, BACnet IP, BACnet MS/TP, LON IP, LON FTT10, KNX, DALI, Modbus, M-Bus, Profibus, EnOcean, MP-Bus, and many more. As well as all standard IT interfaces like SNTP, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP, FTP, DNS, DHCP, CGI.
All PCD series PLCs can be programmed with the same programming tool: the Saia PG5 Control Suite. This tool is complemented by several libraries and add-ons, such as the FBox editor, Hevac library, S-Web editor, template generators, OPC drivers, and ViSiPlus visualization and management tool.
An integral Web Server is standard in every Saia PCD PLC. Web pages in are stored on the PLC and accessible with standard web browsers through RS232, RS485, Profibus, and TCP/IP networks, from operator panels, PCs, iPhone, iPad, or PDAs (iOS, Android, Windows). Saia-Burgess Controls has a complete range of TFT touch screen panels (5 inch to 15 inch).
