They were the first to incorporate the Xenon Flash in Open Path Gas Detectors (OPGD) detectors to solve false alarm issues common in the industry. Today they offer 28 major OPGD designs for continuous hydrocarbon and toxic gas monitoring.

According to Spectrex media advisor Barbara Accocella, currently their products are available in African countries and they are mostly used in the Oil and Gas industries, which are only in certain countries in Africa.
Spectrex Inc. is fully committed to continue its innovative approach and development efforts to address the needs of the high risk – high value industries for reliable and unique solutions that provide effective protection against fires and explosions.

Their 20/20MPI is a low cost, high performance, compact Triple IR (IR3) Flame Detector in lightweight polycarbonate housing. It retains all the benefits of IR3 technology – long distance detection (up to 140ft / 43m) along with the highest immunity to false alarms. These were used extensively in the Bow Building in Canada (pictured)

The IR3 detector, with its lightweight housing and low power consumption, is especially suited to indoor applications, such as airport terminals, train stations, storage areas, public buildings and many more.
Also their 20/20MI is an economical and compact Triple IR (IR3) Flame Detector with the highest immunity to false alarms, in rugged stainless steel housing. It is available in either general purpose non-Ex approved or intrinsically safe approved (EExia) format.
