Adani Group is to put an investment of approximately Rs. 2.3 trillion that will foresee the development of World’s Largest Renewable Energy Project through the vision 2030 in India’s most ambitious renewable or green energy expansion endeavor and solar and wind production capacity addition ever in their history according to reports from sources.

According to Vneet Jaiin, who is the Managing Director of Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), the largest renewable energy company in India, revealed that the company would make an investment of approximately Rs 1.5 trillion in expanding energy capacity in order to tap and generate electricity from both solar energy and wind energy at Khavda in Gujarat’s Kutch to a remarkable capacity of 30 gigawatts from its current 2 gigawatts. Moreover, the company is also set to put another additional investment of Rs 50,000 crore in a 6-7 gigawatt capacity project that would be similar to this another in another region in the country.

AGEL’S Ambitious Plans and Goals

As for now the operating portfolio of AGEL stands at 10,934 megawatts, and it has set a target of 45GW of renewable energy capacity by the year 2030.

On the other hand, a subsidiary under the Adani Enterprises Ltd, Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL), will put an investment of approximately Rs 30,000 crore in the expansion of of both solar cell and wind turbine manufacturing capacity at Mundra in Gujarat. As revealed by Jaain, in support of these ambitious plans and also meet the requirements of the local renewable players and the competitive export market, ANIL has set up plans that will foresee the expansion of its cell and module manufacturing plant that is located in Mundra to attain an impressive capacity of 10GW by the year 2026-2027 from its current capacity of 4GW.

Other than solar manufacturing, ANIL is also doubling its capacity to manufacture windmills that are able to generate electricity from natural wind, to 5GW in three-and-a-half years, he stated.

The renewable energy plans of Adani stand out as the most ambitious by any company in India as it targets to generate an impressive 500GW of electric power from renewable sources by the year 2030 which is part of its greater plan of attaining net-zero emissions by the year 2070.

Size of the Project

In matters concerning the site of the World’s Largest Renewable Energy Project, Khavda is spread over an area of 538 square kilometers, which is five times the area occupied by the city of Paris. When the project is at its peak, it will be able to generate a remarkable 81 billion units, which is able to power a whole country like Belgium, Chile, or Switzerland.

Capacity of the Worlds Largest Renewable Energy Project

Accoridng to the Managing Director of AGEL, the site at Khavda will have a total capacity of 30GW; 26GW will be attained from solar energy and the remaining 4GW will be from wind energy.

Its current portfolio consists of 7,393MW of solar energy, 1,401MW of wind energy, and lastly 2,140MW of the wind-solar hybrid capacity. The company has already set up windmills and is looking forward to commence generating power later in the year.

AGEL has other project sites in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. The commissioning of the capacity at Khavda, the overall operational portfolio of Adan stands at a capacity of 10.9GW. The company has set a target of generating 45GW of green energy by the year 2030 with most of it being generated from Khavda.
