Aramco’s Marjan Field Project’s EPCI contract has reportedly been won by leading Engineering Major, Saipem. Saudi Aramco made an announcement confirming the successful awarding, to the Italian firm.
In a nutshell, the development’s scope of work involves engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of five platforms. Moreover, it will also feature associated subsea flowlines, pipelines, and cables within the Marjan field. The oil and gas field’s location is off the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia. Its full ownership, as well as operation, is by Saudi Aramco, the state-owned oil and gas company.
In extension, Aramco’s Marjan Field Project forms part of the Marjan Crude Increment project. The program features the construction of 24 water, oil, and gas injection platforms. In addition to 200 kilometres of cables alongside an offshore GOSP complex.
As a whole, the Marjan Crude Increment Programme’s implementation is via several work packages. Reports note that its total investment is approximately $12 billion. Meanwhile, the offshore work packages are valued at $5 billion. On the other hand, the onshore packages are worth, $7 billion, at an estimate.

An Overview of Aramco’s Marjan Field Project
Currently, the project’s existing infrastructure facilities feature three offshore gas-oil separator plants (GOSPs). The Marjan field got discovered in 1967, with a potential capacity of 2.31 billion barrels of recoverable crude oil.
Marjan GOSP-1’s installation in 1973, resulted in a production capacity of 100,000bpd of oil. Further, its production also included 175 million standard cubic feet a day (Mscfd) of gas. Thereafter GOSP-2 and GOSP-3 became operation in 1994. As a result, its total production capacity, elevated to 600,000bpd of oil, alongside 675Msfcd of gas.
In total, Aramco’s Marjan Field Project boasts a $21 billion budget. Overall, it targets to expand the field and increase its crude production capacity. Thus far, the project has been able to carry out development works for its Radio Frequency Identification System.
The works were contracted to a subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric in May 2022. Three W Networks successfully worked on the development’s offshore and onshore expansion as part of package 6.
