The Busaiteen Link Project in Bahrain has revealed plans to award its main construction contract by the third quarter of 2023. Bahrain Ministry of Work will be responsible for the $55 million development in Muharraq’s contract awarding.

As a whole, the Busaiteen Link Package 3’s funding is from the Saudi Fund for Development. Moreover, it forms part of the Roads for Muharraq Ring Road Phase 2 (from Junction to Junction 4) development.

The Busaiteen Link Project’s tender for main construction works got issued on 9 January 2023 by Bahrain’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MoHUP). Thereafter, technical bid submissions were on 12 March, with an extension to 21 May.

Currently, the project is undergoing technical bid evaluation. According to an official source, the main contract’s awarding should be by early September, this year. Moreover, the source said that the financial bid subincision date will be announced in due time.

An Overview Of The Busaiteen Link Project

The project’s bid is open to only Saudi contractors. More specifically, those with registration as per Deputy Ministry for Contractor Classification in the country, under Class A for Roads Works. Furthermore, the development’s bid is also open to Saudi Contractors with registration as per Deputy Ministry for Contractor Classification under Class A for Roads in JV with Bahraini Contractors.

Official statements reveal that the technical bidders’ list comprises Haji Hassan Group, Nass Contracting Company, Al Moayyed Contracting, and Alghanim International General Trading and Contracting Co.

In a nutshell, the Busaiteen Link Project forms part of the government’s plans to augment existing road networks. Thus, the region will observe more effort toward the development of new road corridors. As a result, the road project will consist of an 8.3 kilometers dual four-lane main highway. In addition to 2.4 kilometers of an associated dual carriageway as well as three storm surface water lifting stations. By the four quarter of 2025, the development project targets to have completed all construction works.
