Butaro Level II Teaching Hospital newly expanded hospital, built by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), was commissioned officially on Tuesday in Burera District in the northern part of Rwanda. The upgraded hospital used to cater for a population of around 350,000 before the renovation works were conducted. It will also be equipped in order to accommodate the rapid growing population and to also unction as a teaching facility or students pursuing health related courses.

The Minister of health of Rwanda, Sabin Nsanzimana also stated that the hospital would enable easier access to health services so the people will not have to travel to the capital in order to access health services. The hospital is seen as a very important milestone as it is going to facilitate the coming of the teaching aspect to rural areas.

Butaro Level II Teaching Hospital Bed Capacity and Facilities

The Butaro Level II Teaching Hospital was expanded from a bed capacity of 150 to 256 beds and also has been upgraded to contain an upgraded emergency facility, intensive care unit (ICU), imaging and oncology facilities. The governor of the Northern Province also pointed out that this hospital not only indicates the end of two years of hard work and dedication but also the dawn of a brand new era in the province. The governor got to express a lot of gratitude to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for the great work of expanding the Butaro Level II Teaching Hospital in the province.

CCECC representative, Kong Lingshun, praised the Rwandan Ministry of health and the team of the hospital for the great support they offered to the expansion project that was being carried out in the hospital. Kong Lingshun also stated that they were ready to again offer their construction services in livelihood, health and medical projects in the country in order to contribute to the development of Rwanda with guaranteed speed and reliable quality.
