Century Housing along with other developers has celebrated the groundbreaking of 5 new supportive projects in Los Angeles. Thomas Safran & Associates, The Veterans Collective, and The Core Companies, are also responsible for the combination of new construction and adaptive reuse projects.

All of the projects are a part of the North VA Campus master plan, which calls for building 1,200 houses for homeless veterans on land along Wilshire Boulevard to the west of the 405 Motorway. More than 230 additional houses have been added to the complex as a result of recent completions, including the 59-unit Building 207 apartments that opened in March 2023 and the 120 new residences added in May to Buildings 205 and 208.

The Century Housing supportive projects

Buildings 156 and 157: The adaptive reuse of existing two-story buildings as 112 apartments, including 96 studio units, 14 one-bedroom units, and two market-rate manager’s units, all priced for households earning between 30 and 50% of the area median income level.

Building 401 is a brand new, three-story building at MacArthur Field that contains 75 apartments. 74 of which are apartments are for formerly homeless veterans.

402 Building is a collection of 11 modular structures with 120 studio and two-bedroom apartments priced for formerly homeless veterans making between 30 and 50 per cent of the typical income for the neighbourhood.

Building 404 is a brand-new, three- and four-story structure with 73 units for formerly homeless veterans making between 30 and 50 per cent of the area’s median income level. It is located at the intersection of Bonsall and Nimitz Avenues.

“These new buildings will provide safe, comfortable, and reliable housing for 380 of our nation’s heroes and their families,” Congressman Ted Lieu said during the groundbreaking event. “Today’s groundbreaking is a fantastic beginning in the right direction, but we’ll keep working to make sure that all of our veterans have a secure place to live. To put an end to veteran homelessness, I am looking forward to working with the Biden Administration, my congressional colleagues, our state and local authorities, activists, and other veterans.
