Construction underway at Kanye Stadium. This was made known by Kanye District Council Chairman who goes by the name of Mr Mpho Dithole in a full council meeting that took place on Monday.
EH Construction Company trading as excavator hire was awarded the contract to build a famous R 8.4m tender.
He affirmed that the contractor had already been mobilized at site to start the first stage which consisted in building a football pitch due on February 28, 2023.
At the same time, he indicated that the site clearance was done while work on the earthwork was proceeding.J
According to Mr Dithole this was not just any project for construction of sports facilities but, a serious move towards enhancing community sports development and creating bonds of unity and togetherness.

Kanye Stadium will be complete by February 2024. “This would be integral in our bid towards developing local talents and creating a community centre.” Mr. Dithole said.
“We see this stadium as a symbol of unity and excellence, a place where sportsmanship, community spirit and healthy competition meet together.”
Mr. Dithole also noted that after construction the new stadium would be a proof of the will to the sport development and community building.
However, he said that the council kept working on the street lights in order to enhance lighting conditions of the village.
He affirmed that over 50 000 Pula was set aside for upkeep of Kanye streets lighting.
In addition, Mr Dithole indicated that the project was in the latter stages of procurement; and that they had already purchased 121 LED streetlight fittings together with 50 solar batteries. said, such streetlight poles will have to be procured before the close of December, in December 2023.
