Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has initiated the construction of Phase One of 32 cutting-edge Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) facilities to be strategically distributed across Ghana. This will be a significant move towards making Ghana a leading hub for skills development.

Upon completion, each region in Ghana will host two such centers, thereby significantly enhancing access to technical and vocational education. Furthermore, these facilities will provide opportunities for skills acquisition and upgrading. Specifically targeting practicing artisans to meet the burgeoning demands of the industrial sector.

Phase One Of The Construction Of The 32 New TVET Facilities In Ghana.

Phase One of the project will comprise the construction of nine facilities, including a Center of Excellence in Abrankese (Ashanti region). Six Category A facilities are located in Boako (Western North), Kenyasi (Ahafo), Patuda (Bono East), Dambai (Oti), Salaga (Savannah), and Guabuliga (North East). Two Category B facilities in Akyem Awisa (Eastern) and Tolibri (Upper West).

Vice President Bawumia emphasized that these facilities are a pivotal component of a broader government strategy. Specifically, it will align Ghana’s education system with the dynamic needs of the industry. The 32 new  State-of-the-Art TVET facilities project in Ghana, encompasses a range of vital objectives. Namely, bolstering youth employment in rural areas and ensuring equitable access for females and the rural poor. Additionally, they will enhance the quality and relevance of TVET delivery.

The initiative includes the establishment of one TVET Center of Excellence, 16 Category A Centers, and 15 Category B Centers. These institutions will receive comprehensive infrastructure, including administrative facilities, accommodation, common areas, recreational spaces, furniture, fittings, external works, workshop tools and equipment, and ICT infrastructure.

Vice President Bawumia reiterated that the development of these state-of-the-art facilities is a crucial element of the government’s plan to align Ghana’s education system with industry needs.
