Kuwait’s Ministry of Public Works has been reported to award the Raqqa Infrastructure Project’s contract by the fourth quarter of 2023. In a nutshell, the developments will include stormwater drain channels and road construction. Aside from the construction and completion of the project, its contract also includes infrastructure maintenance.

Currently, bid submissions for the Raqqa Infrastructure Project are ongoing. A close source to the project also revealed that bid submissions should conclude by September, this year.

The Raqqa Infrastructure Project Incorporates The Development Of Significant Road Junctions

At an estimate, the total project cost is said to be about $70 million. In a joint venture (JV) with Pan Arab Consulting Engineer, Louis Berger Group Inc will serve as the project consultant. Meanwhile, the development contractors are Kuwait Arab Contractors Ltd and the Arab Contractors Co.  

The AL-Jahra road development forms part of the Raqqa Infrastructure Project, as a whole. Its development;nt works will include the separation of transit traffic from local traffic through free intersections. Moreover, it also will separate vehicular traffic from pedestrian traffic. In total, the Al-Jahra road will stretch 11.24 kilometers. Meanwhile, the total length of the vertical roads along the stretch span 3.42 kilometers.

In a nutshell, its development works will be sectioned into 5 sequential phases. The 1st phase will feature a tunnel along Al-Jahra Street, right beneath the second ring road. Thereafter the 2nd phase will carry out surface works from the project’s eastern borders and upper road. It will then stretch up to the intersection of Hospital Street along the upper road as well as junctions JRD, JRF, HRA, and HRB, just to name a few. The 3rd phase will pick it up from the hospital intersection up to the Ghazali Street intersection. Meanwhile, the 4th phase will be from Airport Street into the west of the Ghazali street Intersection. Lastly, the 5th phase will work on both the west and east of Ghaali Street alongside the upper road and junctions such as GRA, GRC, JRK, GRB, and JRL.Â
