Governor Godwin Obaseki officially certified four real estate developers towards the construction of 1300 housing units at the Emotan Garden City in Edo State. This move was designed to propel the construction of both quality and affordable housing units at Phase Two of the project.

The Managing Director of the Edo State Development Property Corporation (ESDPC), Mr. John Zedomi, addressed the media during the official site handover ceremony. The site located at Emotan Gardens City, located in the Upper Sokponba axis of Ikpoba Okha Local Council. Zedomi noted that Emotan Garden City, a brainchild of Governor Obaseki’s administration, has revolutionized the housing sector within the state. He emphasized the significant dividends arising from government investments in this domain.

The Current State Of Housing Sector In Edo State.

The Edo State Government has tasked the Ministry of Housing with addressing the housing deficit through annual provisions of social housing. The ministry’s Permanent Secretary revealed this during his visit to the Edo Development and Property Agency (EDPA) in Benin City. He emphasized collaboration with the private sector and urged the EDPA to facilitate it. Recognizing the EDPA’s pivotal role, the Permanent Secretary requested data sharing for improved coordination. He urged the appointment of a liaison officer to enhance communication. Zedomi highlighted the agency’s role in implementing state housing policies such as the 1300 Housing Units At Emotan Garden City.

Zedomi outlined the features of the second phase of the 1300 Housing Units At Emotan Garden City. Noteworthy components include a central sewage system and constant power supply from the Ossiomo Power Plant. It also includes the provision of a police post.

Zedomi reassured the developers of the State Government’s unwavering commitment to accelerating the construction of accessible roads to the estate. She continued by underlining that no aspect of the estate’s infrastructure will remain unfinished.
