Former Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, expressed his admiration during the groundbreaking ceremony for the impressive N195.3 billion Port Harcourt Dual Carriage Road. A visionary 50.1-kilometer project aimed at connecting communities, expanding the landscape, and fostering unity among the people of Rivers State.

The Port Harcourt Dual Carriage Road Project. is set to be completed within a remarkable 36 months and to be executed by renowned construction company Julius Berger. It will span six Local Government Areas and include six flyovers and one river crossing bridge.
Reflecting on past challenges, Wike highlighted the efforts made during his tenure as governor to initiate the Ring Road project, but it remained unrealized due to various obstacles. In contrast, he commended Governor Fubara, who, within a month of assuming office, has successfully awarded and invested N195 billion into the project, with N150 billion already paid. Wike challenged any state governor in the country to match this level of commitment and capacity to engage a reputable company like Julius Berger for such an ambitious project.
Emphasizing the project’s significance, Wike assured that once completed, it would astonish Nigerians and stand as a testament to Governor Fubara’s remarkable achievements in just 100 days in office.
In his address, Governor Fubara acknowledged the failures of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and stressed that the Port Harcourt Ring Road project was initially meant to be undertaken by the NDDC. He lamented that the commission had not fulfilled its development mandate and had not delivered such transformative projects in every state, as it should have.

Governor Fubara sought the cooperation of local communities and assured them of fair compensation for those affected by the project’s implementation. He emphasized that this project was not just a contractual agreement but a genuine commitment backed by payments and tangible actions.
