Saudi Arabia is almost certain about being the country to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup. This is so after the only other country that was Australia withdrew their bid. Saudi Arabia being left as the sole bidders casts an inevitable question for the construction industry. The privilege to build the stadiums that will host the 2034 FIFA World Cup is reserved for few firms. The top building contractors in Saudi Arabia are four firms. These firms are backed by the Kingdom’s sovereign wealth vehicle. The four firms have a collective total value of contracts under their belts of over $17bn. Other major players include companies such as Saudi Binladin Group, WeBuild, among others.

Contractors outside the Saudi Kingdom will also want in on the take of constructing landmark stadium projects. Over the past decade, their were six stadiums built for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. There were also inclusion of other stadium schemes across the region. The main players who were mandated with the task of completing these stadiums will also want to work in Saudi Arabia. Companies such as HBK contracting who built two stadiums in the 2022 Qatar World Cup are viable options. The Saudi Arabian Football Federation is leading for the 2034 FIFA World Cup bid. The federation is representing Saudi Arabia for the bid to host the World Cup.
