A contract for the supply of solar trackers to Tepuy Solar PV Park was recently signed by Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), a supplier of smart solar tracking solutions under Trina Solar and TrinaTracker.
According to the agreement, the park is located in the Antioquia province of northwest Colombia. It will receive 108 MW of smart tracking systems, including TrinaTracker’s ground breaking Vanguard 1P trackers, smart algorithms, as well as Trina Smart Cloud platforms.

An important project is the Tepuy Solar PV Park, which was developed by Medellin Electric Power Company, the country’s largest electricity generator.
The EPC responsibilities include design, supply, building, and installation, as well as the launch of the PV power station. They are currently driven by Powerchina. TrinaTracker is the sole supplier for this massive project.
The broad solar power plants located on flat terrain are the perfect fit for TrinaTracker’s Vanguard 1P trackers.
The design requires fewer drive systems and also controllers per megawatt. This hugely lowers material costs as well as labor hours during project installation. Bi-damper systems reduce the possibility of tracker damage in windy conditions. The product’s reduced pile foundations improve compatibility with cleaning robots.
Enhancing solar efficiency
The tracker control unit, SuperTrack, and the Trina Smart Cloud monitoring platform are crucial elements of TrinaTracker’s smart tracking system. Also, they integrate the tracker structure, algorithm, and platform. Compared with conventional solar tracking systems, this innovative solution boosts electricity output by up to 8%.
Furthermore, it provides better monitoring functions throughout system operation. This results in reduced maintenance and operation costs for clients while minimizing power generating losses.
Colombia is showing promise for photovoltaic power generation. Latin America is huge in the solar tracker market. According to reports from international consulting firm S&P Global, over 80% of ground mounted PV sites in Latin America employ solar trackers. This exceeds the global average market penetration of 45%.
Tepuy Project: Empowering renewable energy in Latin America with TrinaTracker
The Tepuy project’s involvement in TrinaTracker is a huge step in the direction of greater development in the Latin American market. TrinaTracker remains devoted to speeding up the development of PV projects in Latin America. It aims to increase the region’s renewable energy capacities by introducing state of art smart solar tracking technology to the region. Additionally, it provides full system design, delivery, and after sales service.
