The acquisition of a site for the proposed £50m Mixed-Use Development in Barking has been finalized. This process was completed by Weston Homes, in collaboration with Be First London on behalf of Barking & Dagenham Council. The site is known as Town Quay Wharf where the development aims to revitalise the area by creating 147 apartments. Furthermore, 1,000 sqm of commercial space will surround a public plaza offering scenic views of the Mill Pond and River Roding.

Located off Abbey Road, Town Quay Wharf spans an expansive area of over 5,630 sqm. PRP Architects has intricately designed it to reconnect the town centre with the waterfront. Additionally, the development will consist of three buildings, including an 11-storey structure and two seven-storey blocks, adding a dynamic architectural presence to the surroundings.

Developed by Weston Homes, Abbey Quay will offer 1,118 luxurious apartments, ample public amenity spaces, and 41,000 sq ft of commercial retail and leisure opportunities.

The vibrant offerings will include a new pavilion restaurant, local shops, cafés, a gymnasium, and a community hub. This ambitious project, along with Town Quay Wharf, contributes to one of the most significant regeneration endeavours in the UK.

£50m Mixed-Use Development in Barking, an indication of the developers’ commitment to providing high-quality homes at affordable prices

Expressing enthusiasm about the partnership, Bob Weston, Chairman and CEO of Weston Homes, highlighted the company’s commitment to providing high-quality homes at affordable prices. The Town Quay Wharf development will offer a significant number of private market sale homes in the regeneration area. Additionally, they will also allocate 42% of the residences as affordable housing. Thus, it will ensure that a range of housing options is available to the community.
