The InterContinental San Antonio, a 391-room hotel situated at 111 East Pecan Street on the renowned San Antonio River Walk, has been officially confirmed as having broken ground by IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) and Scarlett Hotel Group (SHG).  SHG and Trailbreak Partners, a Denver-based real estate investment and development company helped secure the $158 million in financing. It will completely transform the property into an opulent, first-class destination serving visitors to San Antonio, as well as the city’s thriving business and convention industry.

In 1958, InterContinental San Antonio’s site debuted as an office complex. The 21-story skyscraper is located in the centre of San Antonio and is next to the Weston Centre. It has direct access to the River Walk and the area where the river taxis land. It also has a rooftop pool with views of the city’s skyline.

Details on the InterContinental San Antonio project

After a thorough renovation, InterContinental San Antonio will have 40,000 square feet of conference space. Additionally, top-notch dining and drinking options, and opulent rooftop facilities. The hotel will serve San Antonio’s robust convention and business travel markets while also boosting the city’s prominence in the high-end leisure market as the InterContinental brand’s first property there. IHG has more than 450 hotels open globally under six different brands, including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, making it the second-largest luxury and leisure portfolio in the hospitality sector.

A new rooftop layout will make the most of the large and unusual outdoor space, giving the area an airy vibe. Aside from the outdoor pool, there will be numerous floors of dining and meeting areas where visitors can congregate, eat, and unwind. Nearly everything on the site will be suitable for small gatherings and meetings thanks to a variety of adaptable indoor areas. Coworking areas used for work during the day will transform private dining rooms at night.
