Construction is underway on a new inpatient-outpatient mental health facility in Opelika. This forms an extension to East Alabama Medical Center.

The expansion also incorporates the East Alabama Psychiatric Services (EAPS) . Mental health care was the motive of all the speakers that mental health care was a significant reason widespread within our locale in the entire state of Alabama, whole country and over the entire world.

Construction Cost

This new inpatient-outpatient mental health facility in Opelika will cost $30 million. This project will form part of the East Alabama Medical Center ‘s Give Hope campaign. However after the site is cut, construction of the building officially commenced.

The employees of East Alabama Medical Center are on a crusade to harvest hope for their  village. Mental health needs are not only increasing in our region, but they’re increasing on a global scale. This is coming as Wright State University makes plans to construct a new facility in East Alabama Medical Center, which has to refer patients due to inadequate room in the current care space.
We strive that all our patients of the eastern central Alabama neighborhood can be admitted here in case of an inpatient admission, and hence they will be nearer their families though they still live in their home.

Significance

This new inpatient-outpatient mental health facility in Opelika will attract the establishment of a new stand alone psychiatric hospital that will have 40 beds, out of which 20 beds will have adults and the rest 20 will be for children and adolescent.
Chapter of Board East Alabama health occurs to be Mr. Joel C. Pittard. He considers this issue carries significant weight for all.
‘It impacts us all. I’m talking about everyone’s family or friends have some situation that needs some met and these needs must be fulfilled,’ said Pitard.

Dr. Peter Lusche is also the psychiatry director. He notes that has been the nurses, doctors and care personnel he has been inspired by.

‘ This is not easy work, this is emotionally challenging work’ Dr. Lusche said. Once they come back it is like they come back full of energy and I do not know where they draw this energy from, Dr.Lusche added, ‘ they truly pour this energy into their work for the people who are in these center.’

Local and state dignitaries were also on ground during the groundbreaking ceremony; they included hospital officials. As Dr. Lusche says, such showings do not come very often.
“We are the only facility, and it is really not that, we are the only facility, and it’s not even ‘really’ not that common, at all, to have an actual psychiatric facility, designed from the ground up,” said Dr. Lusche. “ In the last forty year of my experience, I’ve never tasted it, and it is a sheer day of moments.”

Completion date

This new inpatient-outpatient mental health facility in Opelika aimed at offering hope to some of the people in east Alabama region is projected to be completed in fall 2025. From the planning stage to the meticulous inspection of those plans, to the establishment of those plans , working with the leadership, working with the architect, it is just a delicate project.

This new inpatient-outpatient mental health facility in Opelika will also provide learning space to students who are studying medicine at Auburn University.
